Hi guys, I'm new to this site and I'm not sure if this is the message board I need. I have a tpi setup on a ZZ3 crate. I've had calibration problems since the install. I have lots of questions about chips, vss, ect. I have lots of info to share but I need to know if I'm in the right spot. The engine is in a 59 Vette and I took great pains to make it a factory looking install. Not a hack job. I've been told a speed density tpi won't work with a ZZ4 cam. I've had the chip burned twice but the calibration is still off. I bought a Holley harness and computer to get rid of the factory unit. I spent so much time making the swap sanitary that I hate to strip the harness out to put in the Holley stuff. Any TPI gurus out there? I neeed to talk to someone who is experienced in calibration. thanks, Mike

Unfourtunatly, speed density looks very hard at, and depends on vacuum.  I don't know the specs on this cam, but if it is slightly lopey, the ECU, which only makes assumptions from vacuum, throttle position and RPM, is going to get it wrong.  How much trouble would it be to switch to MAF ?  That's what I have, and it's very willing to accept slight changes, since it actually measures the airflow.  Much, much easier to live with, and make changes to.
Let us know what you do to solve the problem

The zz4 cam will work with speed density. A buddy of mine did it with a 91 tpi vette. TPIS might be able to shed some light on your problem. I just built a whole setup on 25 anniversary 1992 camaro. I used a Tpis zz409 cam, Tpis 187cc AFR cnc heads Holley stealth ram intake and the car made 365 to the wheels. All this on a speed density setup. As far as the chips go,my buddy with the vette was running a hypertech stage 2 chip straight out of the JEGS book.

I'd rather see a factory 350cars chip than a hypercrap

Hey Rick,

I've noticed that several people want see a good clean third gen in the mag. I understand you're looking for good candidates. You guys did a photo shoot on my 88 Formula at the 2008 YearOne Experience. Hopefully, it will make the mag soon. I would think a one owner 3rd gen would be fairly unquie.
