I would like to see a shootout between them all.  SOSN would be the perfect platform for a quick runner test.  TPIS says that all runners other than theirs are not worth the money. "If you can't afford our runners, you are better off staying with the stock runners."  Now that is confidence. (Or conceitedness?)

Aren't the AS&M and TPIS runners the same?  I thought I read that somewhere.

I also heard that the TPIS Big Mouth base is actually made by Edelbrock.  TPIS just ports theirs for a little better flow.  True?

I have the Edelbrock base attached to AFR 180 heads on my Corvette.  I still have the stock runners, so a comparison would really help me decide which to buy.  The TPIS are soooooo expensive.

i just bought some AS&M. so in a month i could tell you. but i have stock heads and cam. i am not positive but i think that the TPIS base is an exured honed edelbrock base.
check out fasttoys.net for a good price on the AS&M runners.

i agree that sosn would be a great platform for a runner test.

I have the Accel's. My car has 270k miles on it and runs 14.0's @ 98+ mph so its gonna be hard for me to say they arent the best.

I would save your money as far as aftermarket runners and bases go. All way over priced for minimal gains and you will soon find their limit. Wait until you install a cam and do an HSR or MR. I'm running completely stock L98 motor. By stock I haven't touched a part that touches oil yet  As a bandaid you could port your stock upper plenum especially the EGR wall behind the throttle body.

SLP non-emission 1 3/4" headers, Magnaflow catback, K&N drop in filter, Deleted A/C with 1LE bracket. Cat delete, Transgo shift kit, Solid billet LCA's, Launching on 10.5x26" MT drag's. By far exhaust is your best bolt on gain.

Base run on the car netted a 14.8 and 14.9 a bad experimental launch belched out an ugly 15.2 forgot mph's. After mod's best of 13.9@98mph. My 60's are begging for a 2800 stall as I have to launch off idle to not push the tires through the beam or spin out of the hole. MT's are begging for a harder hit. Unfortunately I have already found 1.9 60's are the limit for my 100k mile ausi 9 bolt and it has developed a huge complaint in the form of clunking and grinding

Also dyno'd the difference between stock airbox and SLP's overpriced cold air. 1hp gain and lost 3lbsft of torque. Of course this is on a chassis dyno with no ram air or cold air effect so actual environment gains could be better but not enough to justify the cost.

There are much more effective mods for the same coin. A set of magnum rockers with higher ratio will make your drivetrain more stable, increase lift and duration on the stock "stump" stick and reduce oil temps and friction. Underdrive pulleys will free up some drag from the accesories and I have heard are good for a couple tenths. Good results have also been had playing with the fuel pressure via an adjustable regulator.

My next mod's are a vigilante convertor and some Magnum rockers and I'm betting mid 13's will be in my grasp. Then it's time to finaly pull a valve cover and install a cam and possibly some 190cc heads. I read on thirdgen org that the Kenny Dutweiller TFS heads are putting down as good a number as the AFR and cost around $800 from summit. Thats the same pricing as some popular cast iron heads. I would love to see a 3rd gen TPI buildup with these heads and a procharger. GMHTP you have mail...
