THIS IS GREAT MOTOR FOR A TUNER, WHY COME IT'S NEVER TALKED ABOUT IN GMHTP. WE ALL KNOW THE SUCCESS OF THE 3.8L TURBO HOW ABOUT A 4200 TURBO.
I HEARD THE MOTOR IS VERY TALL. AN AFTERMARKET INTAKE CAN TAKE CARE OF THAT. C'MON THIS MOTOR IS SCREAMING FOR ATTENTION!!!!!

Its a good truck/suv engine but its impractical for use in cars. While it could be altered to fit into a car, there is no reason to do that because of the availability of the 3800 and the 3.6L.

I am with you on this one.  Isn't this a "high-Tech" GM motor also?  I really wish the after market had picked up in this one and its little brother, the 3.7L Inline 5.

I remember seeing several race variations of the 4200 motor come from Gm when it first debuted.  They were primarily in offroad racing trucks...but the motor made tremendous power with little effort.

There was even a spot in another mag showing a drag car with this 4200 motor pushing 800 hp.  There is tons of potential in this baby.

The ecotec motor seemd to get more backing behind it from GM  and the aftermarket due to its direct competition with the import markets love for 4 cylinder motors.

I know this a domestic based mag but you cannot deny the dominence the Nissan Skyline had in Japanese market with its turbo inline 6 motor. I was drooling at the slight chance that GM might build a "godzilla" of its own........2dr chassis, supercharged 4200, all wheel drive, six speed tranny, augh augh augh ......oooh the potential.

I'd drop a modified 4200 in camaro no problem with the ability for higher rpms and gobbs of diesel like torque this to would be the ultimate wolf in sheeps clothing.
