oil system modification to redirect oil.

I would like to know if taping and pluging the oil passage ,in the block,under the rear main crank bearing cap,down the oil passage with a 1/4" plug, between the two side holes does any good? I have been told this stops unfilterd oil from lubricating the engine. Dose G.M. do anything with there new engines ,as this practic is uesed on older blocks?
