I having trouble with my '91 Z28 1LE.  It starts cold and runs fine.  After an hour or two driving, if I shut it down for 10-15 min. it won't start back up.  There is spark.  If I wait for about half and hour it sputters back to life.  Once I get it running again its fine, cruises along without skipping a beat.  Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

Depedning on how it starts, it could be vapor lock, or the fuel is boiling. Or it could be the starter solonoid getting hot and failing.

Heat is definitely a part of this equation! Check your engine coolant temperature sensor for proper resistance as it may be falsely commanding a "cold start " (rich condition)on the hot engine, which would result in a no start.
Has your gas mileage gone down due to the PCM always richening the mixture?

Hey guy, nice car by the way. Do you have a SES light? if no, then the injectors are junk!!. I have owned 3 of these cars (LB9/AUTO'S)and every one of them has needed a set of injectors.GM has used 3 types of injectors since the TPI inception in 1985 -1992: bosch, lucas, and gm multec for the 91 model year. take a multimeter and probe the terminals of each injector(unplug the connector first)you should get between 12-14 ohms if not the internal coils are shot!! this is due to the extremely high underhood temps.you will find that atleast half of them are below 10ohms!! Ihave used the reman injectors- JUNK!!! and even brand new (GM) but they were only good for 100,000kms.The BEST injector so far was the Bosch Design II they come factory on 1997-2000 ford mustang 4.6 GT ONLY. not crown vic.to identify these look for a yellow top on the injector., and a double -check is too look in the end of the injector (intake port) and look and all you should see is 4 or 6 tiny holes if you see a pintle they are Bosch Design I.You can buy these injectors from FIVEO MOTORSPORTS.COM

p.s I have driven my car to over 420,000 kms and tried every injector out there. TIP: 5.7 -22lb/hr 5.0 -19lb/hr. i HOPE THIS HELPS let me know if you need more help. The TPI eng is famous for obscure hard to find problems.

I had an similar issue with my car - the fuel pump was failing.  With a quick run to the parts shop for a stock replacement pump and the help of 3-4 friends from 3rdGen.org I was able to get my car back on the road.
Sometimes it's the simple things that always gets you.

Why would it be vapor lock these cars are fuel injected, vapor lock only happens in carburated engines.

" you cant put an LT1 intake manifold and heads on a L98 engine "
Yes you can
Popular mod with 3rd Gen owners.
Need hole for regular dist drilled in LT1 intake and provision for coolant hoses from intake to remote thermo housing.

I agree i wouldnt trade my L-98 TPI for a lt or ls-1. The intake manifold is desighned for preformance all across the band until about 4500rpm. here is a tip for u kid, ArizonaTPi. do a google search and its the first results. That will solve uoyr problems with the intake swap. NO NEED FOR LT! SWAP the stock manifold is tire smocking BAD A..
