i was wondering if this motor uses the same components as the ls1...they are around $1000 on ebay and would like to use one for my project as long as there are parts available, like am i able to use ls1 stroker cranks and the cams made for the ls1 as well as the cylinder heads and intakes. im aware of the ecu programming that will have to be done but i was hoping that i could get a truck engine and be able to save money and build it up. is the truck just an iron version of the ls1 with smaller cam and bore/stroke? thanks for your time

Yes, the 5.3L (along with it's brothers the 4.8L and 6.0L) truck motor is an LS engine, so it uses the same crank and internals as the LS1. The advantage of the 5.3 engine is its iron block, which provides for more strength in a boosted application than the original aluminum LS1 block.
Heads will also interchange along with intakes with any LS1 part.
But, this engine is not compatible with heads and intake for an LS2 or LS6.
