Traditionally GMHTP has kept its project cars street machines, and while we've never heard any complaints...I was wondering how many people would be interested in reading about a racecar build. If so...what type of racecar would you be interested in seeing? Drag racing? Road racing? What about top speed racing like the Silver State Classic?

Drag Project of the year: Project Cheap A$$!

Buy everything from eBay including the clapped out 6 cyl Camaro of Firebird and build a top-notch car for cheap. How about a L92 headed 6.0 truck motor with a BIG cam and definately a T56. How long will the stock 10 bolt last? Maybe go so far as to build a true DIY turbo with 20psi or put 16 nozzles in it and test the durability of the pistons. Good times are sure to follow.

How about a sneaky "street" race car type of build? you know 6cly look with VERY quiet "what the hell was that" kind of power..

I agree on the street / sleeper build.  That is actually exactly what i'm getting ready to start myself.  There's nothing like the look on someone's face when you blow the doors off of them with a base bone looking car.

I.E.  I own a 1994 Z24 5-speed with a 2002 Grand Am 3400 v-6 with a couple of bolt ons and a 100 shot of nitrous.....

The look of the guys face in the c5 was priceless when I was leaving him on the highway!

75 shot I ran a 13.313 @ 108.87  ....

Sleepers Rule!

I'd like to see the sleeper/road racer build.  I'm all about power, but I want it to handle the twisties at the same time!  (And these F-body cars just weren't meant for the twisties)

Good ideas everyone, keep them coming. As for a sleeper road racer, I'd say Rick's 1SC-YA is pretty close to fitting that bill. With the right spring, swaybar and shock combo a Fourth Gen is hard to beat (for a solid axle). Throw in some sticky tires and a few driving lessons and you'll be lapping M3's and STi's at open track days–I promise you!

Personally I prefer the street cars as that's what 99% of us have.
