I'm new to the LS engines. I was just wondering what the difference was between the 5.7 LS1 block and a standard 350 block. Is there a big difference?

The ls series of engines are a totally new design. The only similarities are they are both 90 degree engines adn about the same cubic inch. For 1, the oil pan is structural on the ls engine, not so on the 350. There is a whole list of differences. See if you can find an old article that will explain this engine better than I can. You will love this engine though, for its power and versatility.
