First off I'll say hello to every body. Hello.
Here's my question..Where are the casting numbers on a motor?
Next up. My cousin has an 85 SS Monte Carlo that has a GMPP crate 350 engine Longblock in it. The cousin indicates the basemodel that was purchased came from Jeg's automotive. But he can't be 100% for sure which one it was (Long Story) I looked at what he sent me.. a link..

Now is the time I need to tell you that I don't know squat about these GM motors so I need some help.
How can we determine which heads are required to sit on top of the motor if my knuckle head cousin can't figure it himself and I can't look at the thing other than the link he sent me. Do the block castings have identifying numbers or marks available on them so that I can determine which performance head to order? I need to know which heads/camshaft assby will work on this motor.
Help..
Thanks, Roach

Any Gen 1 small block head will bolt to that engine. The only heads that won't work are the LT1/LT4 heads.
Are you guys planning on changing the cam when you change the heads?
If yes, I'd call Comp Cams/RHS, and ask them for a good head/cam combo for your cousin's Monte Carlo.
