Just installed a new crate motor, what do you all recommend on how soon to change the oil for the first time?  I was thinking about a 100 miles or so.

Yea 100 miles is good. I hope you didnt put synthetic oil for the breakin process. After first oil change you can use any oil you prefer.  

Thanks, no I used regular oil and then switch to Amsoil. It said it is good for 25,000 miles or 1 year, but I will change it at about 5,000 miles anyway.

You are welcome, yea amsoil is good, but not 25k worth. Thats a good idea to change it every 5k, you also got to consider the oil filter. Could you imagine what it would look like after a year or 25k?  

Yes, I always change the filter every time I change the oil.
