What do you think is a better car to make into a performance coupe?

I'd go with the Cobalt, you've got more aftermarket parts to choose from over the G6, including the blower kit for the 2.2 Ecotect that GM Performance Parts says.

Well, the G6 and the Cobalt are two different platforms. The Cobalt is Delta, the G6 is Epsilon. The G6 comes with either a 220HP 3.5L V6 (GT) or 252HP 3.6L V6 (GXP).
The pontiac version of the Cobalt is the G5, which comes with a 148HP 2.2 or a 171HP 2.4 Ecotec.
The Cobalt SS/SC is MUCH farther along in the performance coupe aspect as it sports a destroked 2.0 version of the 2.4 Ecotec with an Eaton M62 roots blower strapped to it, along with the supporting cast of engine/fuel delivery and suspension, brake and tire upgrades.
The motor is UNDER-rated at 205/205. I recently dyno'd my Ion Redline (same engine) at 218.9/199.8 in stock trim on 91 pump gas.
