I have a 97 trans am.  I replaced the optispark, plugs, and wires.  The timing is fine but i still dont know why it wont start. There is fuel getting to the motor because it backfires every once and a while when im trying to start it. Does anyone know what this may be.  Thanks

I had the same problem on my 95 impala ss.i was getting fuel but no spark.on the right side of the engine there is a plug that goes into the top of your optispark make sure it is plugged in all the way.if the lock in tab on the connector is broke,it will work its way out of the connection and you will lose spark.bought a new one on ebay for $50.chevy sells them for $140.good luck.

The dealership always charges an arm and a leg. I have the rollers on my minivan replaces and it was $550 at the dealership; what a rip off.
