I've owned a 69, 94, 02 and I am currently driving a 93 Z28.  All these cars where v-8s and automatics with stock floor shifters and had consoles.  I have been looking for after market ratchet style shifters that will fit into a stock console forever.  If you guys could do an article on who carries aftermarket console shifters that work in the console and how well they operate, or how to install one and make it look like it came from the factory, that would be very helpful.  Think quick silver, hammer or mega shifter something you can put a T handle grip on.  I had a 69 Camaro, I like the old look. Thanks

I don't know if this helps but I have a Hurst Shifter with the Lou Short stick in my Camaro and I have had the exact same combonation in all my fourth gen FBodies because I find it perfect for me. Nice short throws but you can really bang through the gears without worry.

Unfortunately since Fourth Gens come with electronically controlled automatic transmissions, there are few to no choices in terms of shifters. So in all likelihood the only people doing such an install are building a racecar with a Powerglide, TH350, or TH400. As the result we have never made it a priority, however, that is not to say that we wouldn't do it in the future. I have seen a lot of rough looking retrofits with aftermarket shifters in my tenure, but I have also seen a few B&M shifters fit fairly snuggly into the stock console.
