i was wanting to as much as possible to my 2003 chevy silverado's 5.3L motor to get as much power as i can out of it heres what is done already:
1. daul exhaust (which was on my truck when i bought it with a chery bomb extreme mufler which is way to quite for my liking)
2. air aid cold air kit
3. air aid throtle body spacer
now i was wanting to change the exhaust and put a differnt muffler on and headers and any thing else i need to do to make my truck LOUD. i wanted to change the cam to make more torque and horsepower and get a programer just dont which one is the best to get and change the throtle body to a bigger one and any thing else any of you can sugest to make more power and torque and noise out of my truck gas mileage is not an issue because either way it sucks cuz its a truck so any info you can give id be greatfull thanks

Have you considered a mild camshaft?  I will be putting one in my 2007 5.3 Avalanche.  It will have a very small overlap to maintain the smooth idle it has. But, it is designed to give me another 30 horsepower and 30 lbs. of torque for towing power in the 1000-3500 rpm range.  It's not as easy as bolt-ons, but achieves my goal.

Go over to performancetruck.com forums and read up.  An in-expensive modification is to use the 2003 Z06 Corvette camshaft and pushrods.  You can get around 30 HP there.  Next would be long tube headers.  Verify emissions requirements before installing.  Follow-up with a good chassis dyno tune.

Replace your mechanical fan with a set of factory silverado electric fans.  Install a "lower" restriction air intake system that is shielded from hot engine compartment air.

You won't pick up much (if any) power from a larger throttle body.

Remove the "spacer", as it doesn't improve power.

If you have an automatic, install a good shift kit in it, upgrade to a late Trailblazer I-6 torque converter to increase your stall.

We did a series of tech articles you may want to check out with a 5.3L Silverado. Stainless Works makes a really nice exhaust system and headers, a MagnaCharger will give a serious kick in the pants, Patriot does some nice CNC-ported 5.3L heads, and Comp Cams (among others) makes some truck specific cams. Choose your weapon, there's plenty out there to wake up your truck.

almost a year old post, but :word: to philnTX

Z06 cam, springs and pushrods, Trailblazer 4.2L torque convertor, cold air intake (or at least a smooth intake tube, but its not like the stocker is restrictive), longtubes, slap a Magnaflow muffler in the stock exhaust, and get a custom tune whether it be on a local dyno or from a mail order company such as BlackBear Performance (google it), and if you want loud, buy a electric exhaust cutout

or if you wanted to get somewhat extreme, slap gears in it, an FLT or performabuilt tranny, TVS1900 blower, meth injection, nitrous (there's also a bunch of completely stock trucks running around with a 100 shot and having no issues), or a turbo (buddy of mine is running 12's with a 5.3/4l80e lifted 8 inches on 35's and 20's)

check out www.performancetrucks.net and www.gmfullsize.com

Bolt-ons such as cold air intake, ported throttle body, headers, exhaust, and handheld or custom tune will all accomplish that. If you want more...heads/cam...more still, bore out the 5.3L to make it a 5.7L.
