just trying to find out some free or cheap mods for the 5.3L(i.e. like the throttle body bypass I did on my LT1 Caprice) and what parts from other LSX motors fit and work with a 5.3L block i.e. cams,heads,intakes.etc. Please help I need to start modifying it soon lol.

there is actually quite alot of parts for the 5.3. i have an 03 ext.cab that i have done a few things to. the first thing i did when i left the dealer was run down to pepboys. royal purple oil trans fluid and gear oil were the first on my list. then i got k&n cai and oil filter and a filter magnet. msd plugwires and bosch plat. 4 plugs and checkd out and went home. the truck already had a jet chip (which when i got with Jet i learned that it is a stage 2 chip. i have a hypertech programmer which helped alot as well as a catback. i have an uncle who is a tech at a chevy dealer but hes gotten ahold of some software that really put everything in place without a dyno and i've had no problems. i know edelbrock and patriot have heads, comp cams lunatti tci msd. if you check out jegs or summit or even stylin truck they have whatever your lookin for. the only free trick i know is them screen inside the maf sensor take it out just be very careful not to touch the sensor probe, also you can port the factory throttle body by yourself just take your time. hope this kind of helped.

On a past project car, we had very good results with Stainless Works long tube headers and exhaust as well as a Magnacharger kit. I'd reccomend those products, a 160-degree thermostat, ported 5.3L heads, and one of Comp's truck cams.

wow I didn't think anyone would respond to this. Thanks for the info. The one thing I want to know is can I say put on a camaro ls1 intake manifold and heads or a ls6 intake heads cam. What from other ls-based engines will work?

I really don't know, but I'm not a tech guy. From the tech articles I read in GMHTP I would doubt it but don't take my word on it.

there is an article on hot rod.com that duttweiler did on an lq9 truck engine. He swapped the truck intake for an ls1 car intake and the hp and tq both went down considerable the ls2 did even worse! Not to mention the fact that you have to change your entire drive pulley assemble to a car style so the throttle body will clear the idler pulley.
