Z 06

Just saw a national Geo prog about construction of the Z06. What intrigues me is that it took as its theme the extreme high tech nature and extreme performance of the car. Faster than the Lambo Gallarado etc.
But, as I understand it the body panels are made of fibre glass and subframe of aluminium.
. The rear suspension is leaf spring. This is truck suspension invented for carts.
. It sites that anti lock brakes were an innovation for worldwide use on the car. Anti lock brakes were invented by Bosch ABS, as well as ASP etc and first used on Mercs and BMWs
. 0/96 KPH in 3.7 secs.

The new Nissan Skyline 3.3, better saloon

Cobra, as fast and more iconic

TVR, better looking and also fibre glass, Le Mans winner

Westfield, faster to 100 mph 60% less cost and with a bike engine

Koenigsegg 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 secs

Ferrari F50 same 0 to 60 mph

Morgan can do sub 5 sec 0 to 60 but is made of wood.

Noble faster with a turbo V6

The Lambo LP560-4 Gallarado does 0 to 60 mph in 3,5 secs and 325KPH o a 5,2 ltr engine.  


. The 7 ltre engine produces 505BHP. This is 72bhp per litre. BMWs V10 makes 100 per litre as does the Lambo LP560-4

Even the 2002 Nissan GTR made over 100 bhp per ton. The 08 makes 126 bhp per ton.

Ford GT 40 over 100 bhp per ton and 0 to 60 in 3.3 seconds

What is it that makes the Z06 such an icon  

Because its an American revolution...but seriously I just think its a car you grow to love. I love the vette because of the HP and the performance it deliveries plus unlike the Ferrari and a Lambo more people can actually afford one.

If you want to compare European cars to a vette just look at the results of the LaMans. I think the winning record will speak for its self. Thats what I love about a vette.
