I Have a 1990 corvette with the 98 and i want to build 650Hp out of the motor. Can it be done keeping the car street legal? I have a guy at a customs shop doing research on the subject and so far it seems possible withe the above, but i would like mor info on the 383 stroker. How will the bore and massive stroke affect the 98?

I guess that depends on your definition of street legal, and what state you live in. Does it need to pass emissions? In California, I would say probably not possible as almost all of your parts would need an EO number. If you just had to pass the sniffer (like in NJ), I would say it is definitely possible. You would need a cat or two, and a mild enough cam with the right amount of overlap. Building a 383 out of an L98 is no sweat, biggest problem is that it has two-bolt mains and not the strongest webbing. I would think a stock block could handle 650hp (assuming a good tune), but check with a quality engine builder to be sure. I assume you will be staying with EFI, right? Then you will most likely need to invest in a good aftermarket EFI system. As an alternative to the obvious Gen VII, XFI, BS3, etc the folks at EFI Connection have told me their LS1 PCM and harness conversion for TPI cars is ready for purchase.
