I have been watching the record on LS1 tech for the fastest nitroused powered LT1. When I started my current build my goal was to be the first car to go into the 8's with nitrous. Taner Bosnali(9.08@155.07) held the record when I started the machine work on my motor. He was then tied with another car that the owner has a screen name "Spray"(9.08@159.7mph). The last record holder was Joey Kenville (9.04@150) Well on Sunday at Byron dragstrip history was made again.

My first pass was a 9.071 @ 150.11. This was with leaving on the plate(approx 100hp) and bringing in the fogger( approx 250hp) 6 tenths of a second later. The car was slow and smooth off of the line. After talking to Larry from Speed Inc. I decided it was time to leave with little or no delay betwee the two kits. I set the fogger to come on a tenth of a second after the first kit. The car jumped out but the the tires started to spin and the 330 foot was slower then the first pass. After I changed the bottle I went back up with the same delay and a little more timing. The car managed to pull off a 8.957 @ 151.60 mph.

I think there is more in it both power wise and the suspension just isn't right. Leaving on that much nitrous the 60' should be in the 1.20's. This is a good start, I just have to keep working it. I need some more seat time and a better understanding of suspension tuning.

hey jakesz28 i am curious as to what ignition system you are using. is it still the stock ignition system? if so, what are you using to pull timing out of the motor for the nitrous? thanks.

I'm running a crank trigger ignition on this. I actually am still using the mallory 685 box that I bought for the car when it still had the opti. The mallory 685 is about the most reasonable priced box and it has a window switch, two step, and one stage of timing retard.

Now I'm going to have to go check out what type of times there nitrous cars were running.

I wouldn't be surprised if there not running mid to low 8s runs.
