I have a 2001 Chevy 3500 cargo van extended. When I turn on my head lights and hit the brakes my tail lamps cut out and my third light works fine. Also, when I turn my right blinker on my left will blink also but dimmer. When I flip the left blinker my drive indicator lights blink from time to time. I've seen other vans on the road with similar issues. If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate some advice. I did check all the bulbs and fuses.

those have problems with the sockets and circuit boards in the tail light assys... i actually have not gotten my hands on one to see.. but i have seen the parts available from Dorman... and on the peg board in the help section at AZ...
Electrical, Tail Lamp Circuit Boards
Brand: Dorman - HELP! part number 70015 or this part number 923-015 take both part numbers with you... Tail Lamp Circuit Boards Description: Tail Lamp Wiring Harnesses Make: GM 2002-00 OE#: 16530144 Orientation: Left or Right Side
here is a picture of it... you will have to copy and paste the link...

usually i would dig into the grounds on these... as what you are describing is a bad ground connection...
one light with dual filaments can search for ground through another bulb by feeding across the parking light circuit wiring.. this makes the bulbs act really strange... as you have described...
on earlier cars that used brass base bulbs... i have just wrapped and twisted a length of copper wire around the base of the bulb.. just touching the top of the brass base... but that is NOT possible with these..
there might be a possibility that the bulbs are in the wrong sockets... but like i said .. i have not gotten one of these in...
but i have seen DOZENS of them... with the same problem...
please post what you find... when you get it fixed...
(about 2 different part numbers... 70015 or 923-015 they are the same part... but different companies keep them under different part numbering systems ... slightly different packaging.. the people behind the counter just need part numbers... it will help a lot..)
wayne..
