Fuel in oil after fuel pump change, engine locked, LT1 89 anyone know why? Need help!
Just put on a new in line external pump. Old pump went bad. Has the fuel regulator gone bad also?  Any suggestions on what to do?

fuel pressure regulator has failed...

this allows gasoline to flow into the intake through the vacuum hose..

see if you can pull the manifold end of the fuel pressure regulator line off...  at the manifold... have somebody turn the key.. bet you get fuel out..

you will have to pull the spark plugs after you change the fuel pressure regulator...   if you try to crank the engine with fuel in the cylinders..  you WILL BREAK THINGS...   like the pistons , rings or bend a connecting rod..

other things to do also...   you want to change the oil....    put in the new oil with the filter off...  with the HEI ignition disconnected.. have somebody crank the motor with the oil filter off... do this for no more than 10 seconds..  the oil that flows out for the first few seconds will have fuel in it..  then fresh oil that you have put in... will be through most of the system...    you might also want to crank the engine with the ignition unhooked.. after you put the filter back on..

so you can build up oil pressure...  warning.. now is a good time to put in new spark plugs also

there is a chance your exhaust system is full of fuel also..

so be prepared for a bang...

decades ago.. a friend was putting points in his 62 buick invicta..  he had gotten the wire on the wrong side of the points..   he had been pumping and cranking it for a while...  i fixed the wire... told him to try it...    BANG..  the muffler exploded.. the blast was so much that my pant legs were flapping on my legs..  i looked under the car.. and the round muffler was completely unwrapped.. laying flat on the ground..   i fell on my side holding my ribs as i was laughing so hard my ribs were cramping..  he thought i was injured.. when he realized.. he started kicking my for laughing at his car...    i think that midas put that brand new unrolled muffler up on the wall.. i have seen it.. but never ask if that was the one...

Thanks for your help, I did tear it apart and found that the regulator had failed, had already pulled the plugs, I will change the oil also and put new plugs in. Thank you for your help.
