HELLO EVYERONE, SKIBERT HERE!! I am putting an '85 L98 TPI 5.7L in my 1987 Landcrusier. I had fun finding brackets and sensors and STUFF I never imagined I would need with this swap. I am down to the electrical ecm hook ups of all sensors and modules. I have to splice all the ecm wires because of the location changes. I would have been better off getting the Painless harness but couldn't afford that and had a salvaged wiring harness and ecm from a 1985 Corvette so I am custom wiring all of this..
MY QUESTION IS: I bought an air diverter valve(I believe from an '88-'92 Camaro 350 TPI, but I can't remember exactly and can't find a reciept) The diverter valve has two electrical connecters TOP AND BOTTOM ....I know the AIR inlet that gets air from the air pump(mounted on the wishbone alternator/air pump bracket). I also know the "divert" outlet that has the dampner on it is the air divert to the atmosphere. I know the one that goes to the exhust manifolds(through the check valves)and the last one that goes to the CAT. This diverter valve I have figured out...But...I found in one of the vacuum diagrams that there is such a thing called a switching valve on this 1985 TPI. I found one on EBAY via vette pros and now I am wondering where do these outlets go on this switching valve? I know the one that goes to the aircleaner outlet on the throttle body with the hardline attached and I know the vacuum line of course. The other two openings are to the CAT and to what? These are the bottom two openings of the switching valve. One points down and the other comes out the side in the middle.
ANOTHER QUESTION: Do I need both of these valves: electric diverter valve and electric/vacuum switching valve? I am doing this swap in CA where it will need to pass smog so this has to be installed correctly for the ecm to work properly... Also, why is there two connectors on my diverter valve> My guess is that the diverter valve I have is an "intergrated" switching/diverter valve and one connector goes to switching valve wire on ecm and the other connecter goes to diverer wire on the ecm. Wow!!!!!!! Anyone understand anything I just wrote? ANY HELP WILL BE MUCH APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
