I am installing a modified LS7 into my road and track project (not a GM car) and am using the std GM ECU.

I want also to install the RaceLogic traction control system which uses independant wheel sensors and will momentarily cut injectors when wheelspin occurs form any wheel.

The problem for me is that some independant engine builders have advised me that the GM ECU has misfire detection. What I need to know from an expert, is:

Will the ECU go into limp-mode on misfire detection, and at what threashold?

Can any one give me a definative answer, beciuase I am getting conflicting reports?

cheers

No limp mode for a misfire code. I get them all the time and it just lights up the SES light. You can disable the misfire code, it won't record them thereby solving your problem.

welcome aboard V8VUM:

No it won't go into limp home. You need almost a total shut down of the processor (CPU) to go into limp home. ie low oil, coolant over-temp. Miss-fire codes are a pain as it can detect a hick-up. Unless the cylinder shuts down completely the code will clear after so many key on-off cycles or miles driven....... Have fun with your project wish I was there  to see it.....Good Luck
Thanks,
Bob
