Hii
I'm gonna swap my 5.3L engine and put it in the new 6.2 376/515 HP engine from GM-Performance. My car is the 2010 RC gmc sierra with the new 6-speed transmission.
So i was wondering how reliable would it be for a daily drive?
I'm not a racing guy, just some fun from time to time.

did you read about the engines installation instructions??

http://www.gmperformanceparts.com/_res/pdf/installation_guides/ls_engines/LS376-515.pdf

LS3 heads.. LS2 cam... both corvette spec...    and this motor comes with a 4 bbl intake...

you might want to do a LOT of studying on it.. comparing parts like intakes and fuel injector sizing..

you may also need a higher stall torque converter to avoid problems... but that requires research...

uae_83,

I would suggest you start by looking at the LS376/480, which is similar to the 515, except it comes ready for fuel injection, with the correct manifold, injectors and throttle body. Since the LS376/480 is really just an upgraded camshaft inside an LS3, it will last a very long time and would be extremely reliable for daily driving.

The swap itself would be very simple, basically plug-and-play.

i know, but the edition i got has a fuel injected system to, so im installing a 6.2 escalade intake instead of the carburetor

ok heres my report on the project
I might have bee asking opinions about the new 6.2 L 376/515 hp GM performance engine and got some contradictions about whether if it was good enough or no, but to be honest *** contradictions and never listen to people and always see for yourself.
So here's the engine i got
http://www.gmperformanceparts.com/EngineShowcase/index.jsp?engId=LS376515&engine=LS%20376/515&sku=19171225&engCat=ls

The site shows that its a carburetor intake, but you can have a choice of either fuel injected or carburetor intake.
The car sounds completely stock, apart from the soft cam lump from the engine.
i just need about 4-5 days to make sure it runs well without any leaks and start tuning.

Here's my old 5.3

Now here's the brand new 6.2 515 HP

FYI: the car is a 2010 and has 15,000km milage

its on this

Hopefully soon i'll video the car with some idle and other stuff
Im gonna break engine then install the LT's from ARH with a magna flow catback and a GM performance air filter. Currently the only upgrade to the gear i did was install a heavy duty transmission oil cooler for my 6-speed automatic.

Awesome work, the truck must be MUCH more fun to drive. Send us some links to the videos when you get them up.

P.S - That's a cool plate, you're in the UAE I take it?

Edit: looks like you got it in already.  Good Luck!  I'm VERY surprised that it only has a small lope at idle.  That cam is lumpier than the one I got in my GTO (same heads as you got but on a 6.0L LS2). Did you change out the carb cam? And listen to mine jump around with 224/232 dur and 112LSA:

Hard to guess, but I would say 380-390rwhp if you are 2wd 1/2 ton. 350-360rwhp if 4wd, take off another 5-10rwhp if you have the big rearend of a 3/4 or 1 ton.

Lucky for you, GMHTP just did a article on FAST versus stock truck intakes on a setup similiar to yours: Febuary 2011/pg 56 "Belittling The Competition" (GMHTP: Whats up with you guys putting out the Febuary mag in the middle of NOVEMBER!?! < pet peeve vent.

Add maybe 15rwhp if you port your intake ($200-$300) or 25rwhp if you buy the above tested just released FAST LSXRT 102mm ($1027+).  Also, what throttle body do you have? You will need at least a 90mm (LS2/3 stock size, used for $100-$200)- I don't know if that size ever came on a truck LS engine. Don't bother porting the 90mm GM TB as it doesnt really give any hp gains- don't waste your $$$ on an aftermarket TB!

So let us know how it goes!

PS: get the 90mm throttle body at minimum. Trust me. Oh yeah: the GM TB is plug and play with no tuning hassles, unlike most aftermarket TB's.
