I have given up the idea of a Pro-Street style car but am thinking a LS3 powered 1987-1993 Fox Bodied Mustang instead.
To build a streetable Mid-9 second Street/Strip car which option would you choose a rebuilt/stroked LS3(415 CID), a stock LS3 with either a KB 3.6 or 4.2LC twin-screw supercharger or both?

From what I understand a fully loaded/equipped Fox body is in the 3300-lb range (well under 3,000lbs if gutted). To be on the safe side, I'd say an LS3 with a stock crank, forged pistons/rods, ported heads, decent cam and Kenne Bell will achieve your goal. With a lighter car you could definitely run a mid-9 with a stroker, big cam and some gear. And I'd bet that a gutted racecar could go mid-9s with a stock LS3 short-block, big hydraulic roller, ported stock heads and lots of gear. These calculators are helpful, albeit on the conservative side.
