Cam article - massive custom Comp grind

Do you guys have a video of that monster? I'd like to hear what kind of idle that would make and how it would sound running up the dyno. Couple of tech questions:
1- What kind of lifespan do you expect out of those valvesprings running right at their max lift (.674 lift cam, springs are rated to .675)?
2- from your last dyno pull with the final configuration (241 headed LS1, LSXR 102 intake, open headers, 237/247, .674/.674" lift., 115lsa cam), what do you think would happen if you switched to an Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake? They seem to favor top end hp and are significantly cheaper.
3- if you stayed with the LS6 intake, would you have still lost only 10hp over the LSXR intake or do you think it would have been more?
Thank you, James

James,
Unfortunately, we don't have any video of these monsters although we will make sure to get some during future tests!
1. The springs should last quite a long time although, with the camshaft so close to max lift, I would advise checking in on them every once in a while.
2. It is hard to say what would happen with a Victor Jr. on this combination but it would certainly make for a good test. Like the 102, the Victor Jr. can move alot of air without restriction, so I would expect similar results.
3. The LS6 would have been more of a restriction with the larger camshaft and I could see it losing 15-20 hp over the 102 with camshafts/rpm of this size.
Let us know if you have any more questions and please stay tuned for even more testing in upcoming issues!
