I know alot of people throw their magazines out once they read them, but I was never able to. I always end up going back and rereading articles, or bookmarking stuff that I think I might need to use later. Here's how I store mine.
I went to a local comic book shop and bought magazine storage boxes:

I bought magazine size storage boards and bags (they come in packs of 100):

The first issue I have, when it was still High-Tech Performance:

The first issue of GM High-Tech Performance I have (not sure if the one before this was High-Tech Performance or GM High-Tech Performance):

Newest issue:

My two favorite issues (October 2002 and October 2003):

Screaming,
Awesome collection! I also store magazines this way and with the proper comic book sheets, they can and will last a very long time. Interestingly, I was told to store them flat (like, laying down) but with the board (which I also use) I don't see why it would matter.
Have you noticed any ill effects from standing them upright?

They probably recommend laying them down because, when the boxes are not very full, the magazines tend to bend over and form a curve to them. Also, there would be less stress on the magazines overall by laying them down. I go look through mine often enough that it would be too much of a pain to have to pull them all out to find the one I wanted. Also, I doubt the box would fit as many that way.
