Hey Guy's, I have a 74 Z/28 Camaro going drag racing, need to know what is a good spring and shock package? The car has a 355ci sb,with about 400hp,4.56 gears and 3500 stall converter and 29.0 slicks and turbo 400 trans. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!!!!

Joe69Z: Sounds to me like a whole lot of rear gear. If you set the suspension up for the strip DON'T USE DRIVE THE CAR ON THE STREET!

Are you using a solid lifter or solid roller cam?

Give me a little more info on your engine, the more the better?

What type rear are you using, 10 bolt 12 bolt 9" posi or spool or mini spool??

The TH400 is it built for abuse a competition trans?

Does the TH400 standard or reverse pattern.

Does the trans have a trans brake?

What heads, what intake manifold, what carb size and type are you using.

Do you run the 1/8 or 1/4 mile it will make a difference.

Go to Moroso's on line catalog, and look under the spring. They make it easy for you, they asked small or big block. The spring rates are different for both.

You can run a Gabriel front and rear shock. You can adjust them three ways.
Front 80/20 50/50 90/10. 80/20 50/50 75/25 not really sure what they do now.

Set the front @ 90/10 and the rears @ 50/50. That setting makes the front end rise reasonably fast, and it keeps the transferred weight on the rear.

You should remove the front sway bar. Thats important it frees the front end. Sway bars are for cornering, not drag racing.

When you replace the shocks, and front springs, get the front end aligned, have the technician  put as much Pos Caster he can disl in it.

Relocate your battery to the trunk. They sell kits to to that. Put unsprung weight in the trunk or as far to the rear of the car as you can.

You will need a drive shaft loop. Go by the directions on application. You don't want a u-joint to break and flip the car over! You can use a stock drive shaft, but put good u-joints in it. Make sure you have atleast 4 to 6 degrees pinion angle.

While your in Moroso's catalog get a set of sub-frame connectors. Between Jegs, Summit Racing, Moroso, and Competition rengineering are all good company's with quality parts. Most of them will even send you a catalog free.

Also get a set of traction bars, or sometime called slapper bars. You want them set so that they are approx 4" to 6" from the front of the eye of the rear spring. Cal Tracs is the hot setup from what I've read.

Makes sure everything under neath the car is strong and go and tight.
